INITIAL START UP & SPRING OPENING INSTRUCTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Fill pool to the proper level, and have filter running.<\/li>
  2. Pool should be clean. If pool is green, treat algae first.<\/li>
  3. Balance the water:<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    P H – 7.2 – 7.8
    Total Alkalinity – 80 – 120 ppm
    Calcium Hardness – 230 – 350 ppm       <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Plug in and turn on The Perma Salt System and then set the control button to #8 (or for older models, set the control knob to #4), which is the highest setting for at least 48 – 72 hours.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      • Add 25 lb bucket of Preparate and appropriate amount of salt to the pool. You only need salt the first year usually. This can be added through the skimmer, or by walking around and pouring directly in the pool. The salt is added to insure a level of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is at a minimum of 1500 ppm.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        * DO NOT SWIM FOR 24 HOURS AFTER ADDING PREPARATE *<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Monitor the water daily until copper level reaches 0.03 – 0.06 ppm.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          TWO WEEK MAINTENANCE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Test water for pH, Alkalinity and Copper.  (The Copper level indicates the amount of Natural Minerals in the water, and is adjusted by the control dial on the unit.)<\/li>
          2. Add 1 bag of Re-Activate \/ Initiate and 1 bottle of Klairate.<\/li>
          3. Adjust control knob if necessary to maintain a copper level of 0.03 – 0.06 ppm.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            HOTTER TEMPERATURES & POOLS BIGGER THAN 27\u2019

            ** PERMA SALT COPPER CHAMBER MUST BE REPLACED ANNUALLY **<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            The Perma Salt System uses a natural synergy for a holistic approach to water maintenance. First, the Perma Salt Chamber disperses natural minerals into the water, such as copper and silver that serve as natural algaecides. By simply adjusting the control, these natural mineral levels can be adjusted and maintained to their ideal levels. All plant based life, such as algae, requires Carbon Dioxide to live. By removing the Carbon Dioxide, algae cannot grow while the mineral levels are coming up to the desired levels. The mineral remover eliminates counter productive minerals found in the normal water supply. By eliminating these interfering minerals, the natural minerals produced by the Perma Salt Chamber will be more effective. The cyanuric acid, which works in conjunction with Activate, prevents chlorine loss due to sunlight. Preparate is the initial water preparation treatment, and is a once a year treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Re-Activate \/ Initiate:  <\/strong> Activate is a combination of DiChlor and Oxone. These two products are the most popular shock treatments available on the market. Activate is the only shock that blends these two products for their maximum effectiveness. DiChlor is a very strong, fast acting, but short lived bacteria-stat. By only adding it only every 2 weeks, all of the side effects of chlorine use are eliminated. The Oxone is an extremely powerful oxidizing agent that strips away chloramines and other contaminants killed by the DiChlor. This Blend of DiChlor and Oxone is so effective and powerful, it is only necessary every two weeks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Klairate: <\/strong>   Klairate is an enzyme based water clarifier. Enzymes attack and eliminate oils and other contaminants in the water to maintain that perfect HD water clarity. The most common cause of cloudy water and scum lines on the pool liner is oils, usually for sun blocks and sun tan lotions. The enzyme based Klairate eats these oils to keep the water perfectly clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            The Perma Salt Chamber must normally be replaced annually. The system service light will come on to indicate that it is time to replace the chamber.
