Please Note: If you have 2 return jets, plug the bottom return first, and then follow the instructions below<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Vacuum & skim the pool so it is free of leaves and other debris. If you have a sand filter, backwash the filter.<\/li>
  2. Adjust the pH of the water to between 7.2 and 7.6<\/li>
  3. Remove the ladder\/step system, store any remaining chemicals in a cool, dry place.<\/li>
  4. Inspect the pool for any repairs needed.<\/li>
  5. Add Winterate or Pool Closing Kit. Let pool circulate for at least 12 hours before closing.<\/li>
  6. Lower the water level to below the skimmer and top return jet. Once again, if pool has 2 returns, use expansion plug to cap the lower return.<\/li>
  7. Disconnect all hoses from the pool, drain filter tank, remove the filter element, or empty the sand (if you have a sand filter) and bring the entire filter system indoors to protect it from freezing.<\/li>
  8. Clean the liner above the water line with vinyl liner cleaner.<\/li>
  9. Pad any sharp corners with old towels, etc. to protect the winter cover from damage.<\/li>
  10. Float the air pillow in the middle of the pool and anchor it in place.<\/li>
  11. Cover the pool so that the winter cover rests on the surface of the water and drapes over the side (see illustrations below).<\/li>
  12. Attach the cable through metal grommets and tighten down securely.<\/li>
  13. Add 1 inch of water to the top of the winter cover to prevent it from flapping in the wind, which will damage the cover.<\/li>
  14. If more than 6-8 inches of water accumulates on top of the cover, pump or siphon it off to prevent damage to the cover.<\/li>
  15. Make certain that no one is allowed near the pool if it is frozen over, as any sharp blows to the pool wall will cause permanent damage to the liner.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
